Just Cause 4 is set to be a stunningly beautiful game, much like its predecessors were in their respective eras of gaming. Unlike Just Cause 3, though, JC 4, is set to be far better optimized and the early results during pre-release testing of the game show that that's bearing fruit. Even when running on absolute ultra settings at 4K resolution, the game looks and plays great with high-end hardware.
The new physics system looks rather exciting too.
Digital Foundry took the game for a spin on a variety of different hardware and software settings and the results came back strong. A GTX 1080 Ti paired up with an Intel 9900K managed to output around 40FPS on average when running the game at full tilt at 4K resolution. With a newer RTX-series card like a 2080 or 2080 Ti, we'd expect to see well north of 60 FPS at this sort of settings, which is good news for those who splashed out near $1,000 for the new cards.
Lower down the spectrum the results are even better. A GTX 1060 paired with a Core i5 4590 managed to get near 60 FPS on average at high-settings at 1080P, while frame rates only took a minor dip when that card was switched to an RX 570.
This is doubly encouraging because we can expect new, optimizing driver releases from both AMD and Nvidia when the game launches on December 4, delivering even better performance in-game.
