Stoic has released its first game not part of the Banner Saga series. While it works away on the third game in that franchise, it's also been developing another game called Killers and Thieves. The 2D, stealth game sees you working your way through tall, medieval buildings, avoiding guards, assassinating enemies and trying to get away with thieving as much gold as you can carry.
You'll recruit randomly generated thugs and thieves to your guild, as you build their skills and train them in a variety of disciplines to unlock new abilities and traits. Death is permanent in Killers and Thieves though, so don't get captured, or you risk your well-crafted team being hung, drawn and quartered.
The buildings and cities you infiltrate will be randomly generated, so no assault will be like another, though there will be familiar avenues of entry to the buildings. Whether you bash your way in by attacking the guards, climb the walls and sneak through the windows, or make liberal use of smoke bombs to hide when the watch comes running - you'll be able to utilise your preferred playstyle as you build your guild.
As your influence expands across the city, you'll need to steal enough to pay expenses and keep your guild in coin, though you're not the only guild operating in that locale. There are others you'll need to compete with and occasionally fight against.
