Now this game is pretty. Using (what else) Cryengine 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance looks to join the ranks of Star Citizen as far off games (this one has a Q4 2015 release schedule) that are really showing what the next few years of gaming will look like.
However it's the game's setting and features which look far more promising than any mere tech demo. It's latest video shows the game having a non-linear open world, in a fantasy-free, medieval setting. It's a proper RPG, with decent characters and story and a world that will feel alive and full - unlike certain Bethesda RPGs from recent years.
According to the developer, Warhorse, featuring ex Mafia developer Dan Vávra and Martin Klíma, of UFO fame, the game is set to combine the story telling of The Witcher series, the graphical capabilities of a Crysis game, the setting of Mount and Blade and the scale of Skyrim.
Whether it can do that is anyone's guess, but the first trailer looks very promising.
As well as decent questing, open world exploration and combat, the game is also promising large scale battles and castle sieges, which considering how beautiful this game is, could blow Mount and Blade II right out of the water.
There's also supposed to be an intuitive and unique first person combat system and while it looks a little pre-rendered and clunky in the video, if pulled off - especially with something like Razer Hydra support - it could be amazing.
The game is currently running a to judge public interest. If it raises the modest $300,000, a private investor is said to be stumping up the many millions more that will be required to finish the game.
What do you guys think?
