Hideo Kojima is a select member of game-development royalty, so the fact that he's had a tough time at Konami over the past year seems quite shocking in reality. Fortunately he hasn't had to stay where he's not appreciated for too long, as yesterday was his last day working there, ending a career at Konami than spanned 30 years.
Now though he has a new home at his own Kojima Productions, where he'll be working on a brand new game and Sony has already jumped in and grabbed the exclusivity on it, no doubt helping the studio with its earliest days of funding.
"My employment contract with Konami has been terminated as of Dec 15th," Kojima's tweet on the matter reads.
"So today marks a new start for me. I'm committed to be involved in creative activities as long as I live. Look forward to what's coming."
To celebrate this news, Sony also released a video showing its own Andrew House barely able to contain his excitement at the news that Kojima was coming on board.
The new game will be part of a new franchise, which means Solid Snake will finally be left behind, but Kojima looks rather excited to be working on something new.
What kind of game would you like to see come out of his new company?
