Lawbreaker devs announce radical heights, an 80's inspired battle royale

BossKey Productions, the developer behind high-concept shooter, Lawbreakers, has announced its second game -- something that's taking the studio in a decidedly different direction. It's called Radical Heights, and it's a combination between an '80s aesthetic and the battle royale modes that have become so popular in the past couple of years. In the debut trailer, it looks like an open world GTA Vice City.

Radical Heights is a battle royale game, but it's set within an active world, rather than a desolate one like PUBG, or a cartoony landscape like Fortnite. Radical Heights doesn't have innocent people in it, but it does have a town that looks alive and well and that means buildings with stuff going on in them! Like arcades and bowling alleys and restaurants.

Players are looking to kill one another, but they're also looking to earn cash. That's an important component of the game, because if you deposit it in ATMs, then you can use it in your next game, so those who continually find themselves struggling can bring in the petty cash they earned in the last few games and use that to buy something fancy to help them out.

There will be microtransactions, but they'll be exclusively for cosmetic items and will have no impact on gameplay, we're told.

Radical Heights represents a big change up at Boss Key. It's only been in development for five months, but is already set to launch as a free to play title today! That could mean it still has a lot of work to go, but the experience so far looks relatively solid, if a little unpolished.
