CSGOLotto and the controversy surrounding the CS:GO gambling site has become quite cataclysmic, with big ramifications potentially coming for those behind the site, the scene itself and perhaps even Valve too. In the short term though, the people behind the site who went on to promote it as if it was a great place to win free items, are likely to be sued. Hard.
During an AMA with a couple of lawyers who wanted to field questions from gamers who feel scammed by the site or just want to ask about the legality of what the owners did, when they posted many videos of themselves winning on the site.
Although there is still debate about whether their actions constitute criminal, or merely civil breaches of the law, there are a lot of people who feel completely scammed, namely the people in the videos who are on record losing to these guys. While they might have liked the content initially, since it gave them a little bit of E-Fame, it now seems like they may have been stolen from, since the suggestion is that the site owners may have altered the site's algorithm to make them win.
There's more than 100 of them and it may well be that they bring a class action suit against the creators of CSGO Lotto.
Other video creators may be in trouble too though, as a number of content makers were given credits and freebies to promote sites like CSGO Lotto to their young audiences, many of whom are well below the age where gambling is legal.
Although many still feel that the government and FCC may not get involved in this case, that may not matter if private citizens start slinging lawsuits at these rather rich young men and women.
How do you feel about the CSGOLotto fall out? Do you feel these guys need to be punished somehow?
