A new hack has emerged on the extremely popular MOBA title, League of Legends, where nefarious individuals are able to exploit a loophole to spend other players' IP and RP. Riot is said to be aware of the issue and working to close the loophole, though hopefully it also plans to reimburse those who have been targeted.
So far some of the worst hit are public streamers, since more of their information is publicly available and it's easy for people to see how much RP and IP they have. In the case of the streamers below, it's in the tens of thousands:
"We're getting this fixed right now, though we can't speak to the specifics of the exploit or the explanations fellow Redditors have been offering. What we can say is that we can see everyone who was hit by an attack, and we'll be returning all RP/IP that was lost," a Riot spokesperson said in the Reddit thread discussing the hack.
It also went on to assure everyone worried about the exploit, that no one's personal or financial details were revealed to anyone. "Your data is safe," it said.
What don't appear to be safe however, are people's RP and IP. Maybe don't tell anyone if you have a lot, as big piles are going missing all over the place.
