Being a pro gamer might seem glamorous, but it requires dedication, long hours, often living with your team and missing out on tens of other games that you could otherwise be playing. On top of all that, you may not even make it to the big leagues, but even if you do, your career is likely to be less than 10 years long.
So you need to find something else to do afterwards, which is what ex-pro player Martin "Deficio" Lynge did. When he finished up his pro gaming career, he became a shoutcaster for Riot, and has been doing quite a job of it until lately, when he was suspended for "tampering," pending an investigation.
Supposedly, Deficio has been discussing joining his old team mates at the Copenhagen Wolves, without letting Riot know. This violates its terms for shoutcasters as it may cause bias, so it suspended him from all shoutcasting for the next few months and banned him from ever calling a game featuring the 'Wolves moving forward.
As further punishment, he will not be allowed to join any team in any capacity for the rest of the 2015 and the whole of the 2016 season.
Quite a nasty punishment, but an interesting one as it highlights how Riot is a very different kettle of fish from traditional sports. It is the sport's developer, manager and media company. It owns the shoutcasters, the gamers and the game. Traditionally, those are all handled by very different organisations, so punishments for collusion are far more rare.
