Magicka: Wizard Wars is an upcoming sequel from Paradox, that takes its querky, humorous look at fantasy wizards and turns it into a competitive, team based combat title. Players will be able to team up in groups of various numbers (maxing at 4v4) and take to the battlefield to blast one apart with fire and ice powered beams of pure awesome.
The dynamic element combinations are maintained from the original games, though there are now a few quick fire spells hotkeyed to your 1-4 keys, so you aren't constantly hammering out the combination for haste or teleport.
Chances are some new spells will make an appearance too, though for now that's being kept mostly under wraps. Annoyingly as well, we still don't know when this game is set to be released. Sometime this year is a good bet, judging by the finished looking nature of the screenshots, but that's about the best we can do.
Check out the gallery above and let us know what you think. I loved the first Magicka, but its plague of (and still ongoing) networking issues means I never got too far with it. I think I ended up playing the first level at least 10 times.
