Mirror's Edge is set to become a live-action TV show, courtesy of the studio that has previously developed shows like Biggest Loser, Human and Masterchef, Endemol Shine Studios. It has purportedly acquired the license for the Parkour title's adaptation and plans to turn it into a female-led action series.
The setting will remain, meaning that the obsessively clean, future city will feature, with the network of runners who deliver important and secretive information still present. How they interact with each other and the authority forces trying to thwart them is where the show will pick up, giving us a look into Faith's life beyond what we get to see in the game.
It sounds like the show will focus around the original game's story, with Faith's sister becoming accused for a murder she didn't commit and it's Faith's job to find out why and what's going on.
"We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience," said Sharon Hall, President of Endemol Shine Studios, via . "It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing."
No word yet on when the series will begin shooting or when it might air, but it may well depend on how well received Mirror's Edge Catalyst is received when it launches in a few weeks' time.
