Metal Gear Online has been suffering from major technical problems since the release of its first add-on pack, Gene Expansion.
Since then, Konami's servers have been crippled (apparently, due to high traffic), causing causing the closure of the game's MGO Shop and Reward Shop and even preventing players from logging in to the game itself at times.
Konami attempted to resolve the problem by temporarily blocking random ranges of IPs for an hour in order to reduce the servers' load; but it seems that even that wasn't enough.
Konami acknowledged the problems and issued an official apology saying:
"We have been taking numerous corrective measures since the problems initially started, but unfortunately there are no permanent solutions we can announce at this present moment."
"We would like to take this opportunity to express our most sincere apologies for the problems that have affected all our customers that have been with us since the Premier Beta back in April."
"We are currently doing all in our powers to bring a permanent solution to the ongoing problems in the quickest possible time."
