Microsoft is now the latest company to jump into the virtual reality bandwagon as the company announced that it is working with hardware partners to develop a new line of virtual reality headsets that will ship in 2017.
The headsets will be manufactured by companies including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer and they will have a starting price of $299. The headsets will work on Windows PC and they will be able to track user movements without requiring external accessories.
"These headsets will be the first and only to ship with inside-out six-degree-of-freedom sensors. Unlike every other VR headset on the market today, this means there will be zero need for a separate room. Zero need for a complicated setup," said Microsoft's Terry Myerson.
Microsoft still didn't share any details regarding the headsets specs or capabilities, but it confirmed that they will be released in Spring 2017 alongside Windows Creator’s Update, which includes a 3D version of Paint.
