Microsoft's Hololens is one of the most anticipated piecese of technology currently in development. While Microsoft has promised that augmented reality headset will be released within a year, we might have to wait another 3 or 4 years before we can put our hands on one.
Speaking to the BBC, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the Hololens is a "five years journey."
The Hololens to be released next year will be targeted at developers. Another iteration of the headset will be released later with focus on the enterprise. Only after both segments are served, Microsoft will release a new Hololens iteration to the general public.
Five years might feel too long for eager fans, but we have to admit that Microsoft's strategy ensures that the headset would have a decent software lineup at launch.
