If you were one of the many Fortnite players who didn't get to take part in the special "Unvaulting" event over the weekend, Epic has something to give you by way of apology. A new Arcana glider! If you've previously owned the glider by shelling out V-Bucks for it, you'll get a refund, but everyone else who wants it can get it for free.
The Unvaulting event saw the giant vault at the Loot Lake open up to reveal a nebulous, alien-esque world beyond, with a giant glowing orb, a desk with some items on it and some monoliths leading to it all with some unique weapons inside. Players were able to unlock those weapons by "voting" with their pickaxes. They hacked away at the monolith they liked the most with the most exciting weapon inside and when it broke, they were given it. Anyone who participated will now have access to that weapon or item in future games.
The orb then exploded, sending players back into the main island world. The volcano erupted, spilling lava, explosions and devastation across the map as games continued. It's rather a spectacular sight, as captured by YouTuber Lucas7Yoshi above.
Epic acknowledged though, that not everyone who wanted to take part in this event was able to do so. For them, there's a free glider in the offing. It will also release files so that everyone can experience the event in-client.
For those players who were unable to participate, we are working to release replay files of the event so that you can witness the Unvaulting from within the client.
