Modders are bringing Liberty City into Grand Theft Auto V

If there's one thing that every GTA game has done, it's push the envelope. Bigger, more detailed and more lifelike than each that have gone before, GTA games are constantly expanding into the beyond, which means that it would often be possible to put the entire game from a previous title into the newer games - as big a job as that would be.

Not one to say no to a challenge though, GTA modders have now begun importing the entirety of the Liberty City map into GTA V, bringing Nico's urban playground to the much sunnier world of Los Santos.

To get us all excited for rather a monumental event, the developers of the mod - who also created OpenIV - have released a teaser trailer, though it doesn't show us much in the way of screens or video... just a hint of what's to come and a rather swanky logo.

There is a caveat though and that is that you will need a copy of GTA IV to play this mod when it's out. The map for Liberty City is huge and OpenIV doesn't own the license for it, but when installed you will be able to literally fly from one city to the other, without loading screens.

No word yet on when it will release, but no doubt it will be popular when it does.
