Monster Hunter World is set to debut on January 26, 2018, bringing the first big revolution of the franchise in many years to all major platforms. Confirmed at the Tokyo Game Show, the release will bring several special editions to different platforms, though most notably, the PS4 Pro.
Monster Hunter World is a game that is a little different from Monster Hunter games from the past few years. It overhauls several mechanics which have been part and parcel of the game for generations. Monster Hunter World drops individual areas with their own loading screens, making the open map a seamless one. It also features new trap and stealth mechanics, improved interactions between various monsters and more of a living ecosystem overall.
There's also the ability to move -- slightly -- while downing healing potions, which we're not sure how we feel about.
Still, the new trailer for the game looks fantastic and it joins news that when the game launches there will be a Monster Hunter World Collector's edition with an artbook, model, soundtrack CD and a special-edition box for it all to go in. There will also be a PlayStation 4 Pro Liolaeus Edition, featuring a fire-breathing Rathalos on the side.
Whether you opt for either of those or just the standard edition of the game though, it will launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
