Bannerlord is a game that Taleworlds Entertainment has been working on for the better part of half a decade and though every time we see it it looks better and better, it's often hard to imagine it ever actually releasing.
While this latest trailer doesn't seem to suggest a release date is right around the corner, it is starting to look like a much more polished experience.
Debuted at Gamescom 2016, the trailer shows us the other perspective from the sieges we've seen in the past. Players can set up their defenders and defensive weapons before a siege begins, they can organise their troops, putting them into squads, groups and formations, all before hitting go.
Once they do though, there's lots of avenues of attack to protect against. The walls need archers, the ladders need to be pushed off and the siege towers need targeting with catapults and trebuchets. Watch out for the main gate too, as you'll need to protect it from the battering ram and follow up infantry charge.
To do so you can use everything from rocks to bows and arrows, to your own closed fists and melee weapons.
The best part though? You don't need to slaughter ever last one of them anymore. All you need do is kill enough so that they run away.
Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord will supposedly release at some point in 2016. We can only hope.
