Add one more developer to the pile. Airtight Games, the makers of Murdered: Soul Suspect, Soul Fjord and Dark Void has announced that it's shutting down after over a decade in the business.
The official announcement came on Twitter, with Airtight thanking fans and developers for sticking with it over the years:
"Thanks to all of the fans, family, friends and colleagues who supported us and made the last 10 years possible," it said. And:
"Thanks to all of the amazing people that worked on Dark Void, Quantum Conundrum, Murdered, Soul Fjord, Pixld and DerpBike."
While news of the closure may have just broken, people have been getting laid off since early January this year, with some ex-developers claiming to still be looking for work. Initially the problems were claimed to be a "necessary restructuring" of the business and that it would continue developing as usual. That seems to no longer be the case.
To put a final nail in the coffin, images have begun appearing showing the studio doors with a closure notice on them and a depressing over of a "blowout sale" of developer hardware.
Did any of you guys play Murdered: Soul Suspects? It's far from a perfect game but many enjoyed its innovative mechanics.
