Neversoft, the studio that made most of the Tony Hawk games you've ever played and many of the Guitar Heroes, has finally closed its doors as an independent studio, completing the move announced by its parent company Activision earlier this year, by folding it into Infinity Ward to create a "super studio."
However to go out with style, Neversoft looks to have burned an effigy of its eyeball logo, which you can see in the gallery above. This was posted online by developer Matt Canale, who said: "we don’t need no water. #alwayshard @neversoft," along with the image.
He wasn't the only one looking to commemorate the end of an era though, as fellow Neversoft alumni (though now employed by Insomniac Games) Stephanie Mayer, who posted an image of the knife her friend received as a gift from company founder Joel Jewett. It looks like something right out of Crocodile Dundee.
Neversoft most recently was involved with the creation of the Extinction mode in the recent Call of Duty Ghosts, so it seems most likely that its future developments will be to do with the shooter franchise, especially considering Infinity Ward hasn't done anything else since its founding.
Neversoft's pedigree however is much more diverse, having developed the PlayStation port for MDK back in the day, as well as producing a Tony Hawk game almost ever year since 1999. It also made 2005's gun, and the still well remembered Spider Man game for the PlayStation.
