Speaking with Montana-based newspaper Great Falls Tribune profiling Neversoft co-founder Joel Jewett revealed that the studio, renowned for its Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games has handed over the Tony Hawk's franchise to another developer.
"It's probably best for the franchise ... it's time for someone else to add fresh ideas to it," Jewett said.
Neversoft will now focus on the Guitar Hero franchise.
The developer working on the next Tony Hawk's title has not been revealed yet, but it is rumored to be the Chicago-based upstart developer, Robomodo, who announced earlier that it is working on a "high-profile extreme sports title for Activision Blizzard." The next game in the franchise is rumored to be titled "Tony Hawk's Adrenaline" and to ship with a dedicated skateboard peripheral.
