A new Friday the 13th game is in the works

If you think it's too long since you've played a troubled, sex having, weed smoking teen, who's just begging to be stabbed by wandering off on their own every waking minute, then you're in luck, as an upcoming game being developed by an "experienced game studio," will reboot the Friday the 13th franchise to coincide with the release of the new TV series about the original slasher movie.

This will be the first Jason game since the release of the original 1989 title on the NES.

Taking a leaf out of Turtle Rock and Evolve's book, the game will be an asymmetrical multiplayer title, pitting a group of teenagers with special abilities and attributes, who need to work together to take on Jason Vorhees, the hockey mask wearing antagonist from the original films. It's described by EGM as having a predator/prey feel to it.

It's not exactly clear what the gameplay will be like, but presumably it will involve lots of running around screaming "oh shit."

"With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form," said Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the original film.

"We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."

What do you guys think of these new asymmetrical multiplayer games? Can they shake up the old head to head MP landscape?
