Blizzard has announced the next expansion for its collectible, battling card game: Hearthstone. Called The Grand Tournament, it harkens back to years gone past where the world was more dangerous, celebrating the heroes of yore with the battling of new ones yet to be crowned.
The expansion will feature 130 new cards, many of which will feature a new Inspire ability, which augments the player's Hero Power. Some of them allow it to be used more than once a turn, others make it cheaper, whilst others still are buffed when you use it - so you can see the sort of synergy that can be created with a deck based around that new skill.
Just don't try it against a mage with a freeze deck.
"When the Lich King and his undead Scourge threatened the world, the Argent Crusade called upon Azeroth’s mightiest heroes to prove their mettle in a magnificent tournament," said Blizzard of the expansion's setting. "Knights of all races flocked to Northrend, vying for glory in epic battles against fearsome monsters. Though the Lich King’s evil has been vanquished, the Grand Tournament continues… the competitive atmosphere’s just a bit more playful than it used to be."
It will also add a new game board, with new animations and tricks to discover - giving players something new to do on their opponents turn if they take too long.
Only a few cards have been revealed so far, but expect the rest to show up in some leak before long.
