New, third party PS4 controllers are in the works

If you need a new controller for your PS4, but don't fancy paying the high prices Sony charges, or don't particularly like the classic dual shock design, there are some alternatives coming down the pipeline. Razer and Nacon are both building new gamepad designs, and they feature differing ergonomics, some interesting style choice differences and actual pysical layout changes, in where the D-Pad and left joystick are located.

The Razer Raiju is a controller aimed at Esports gamers and to cater to that, Razer has added a few extras to the typical gamepad design. Firstly, there's two extra bumpers with extra detachable triggers, a little like the Steam controller. There's also a built in touchpap on the front, trigger stop switches, custom profiles letting you jump between button mappings, a 3.5mm headset jack, detachable analogue stick caps and a braided cable.

In comparison, Nacon's Revolution Pro features the Dpad and left-stick switched around, increased accuracy thumbsticks (apparently), four additional shortcut buttons, four custom button maps with remapping ability, internal weights which can be removed for a lighter controller and a 3M long, detachable USB cable.

While these sorts of functions won't be anything new to PC players, or Xbox One gamers with the Pro controller, this does at least add functionality for PS4 gamers that isn't possible on the standard dual shock controller.

Would you buy either of these third party gamepads?
