It is always funny to start a news story with some bizarre statement that the reader won't understand, so here you go: " Black Powder Red Earth is a first-person shooter that unites multiplayer action with social networking and a virtual marketplace".
The hilarious statement above was said by Echelon president Jon Chang. It would be more fun (at least for the editor) to let you interpret it by yourself, but for some weird reason we decided to include Chang's explanation: "FPS games are 'pick up and play' games that provide instant gratification with short, fast rounds and specific limited goals. In BPRE we've extended that by rewarding players with in-game currency that can be used to customize the experience and set up their own in-game enterprises. Echelon has detached the social network and virtual marketplace from the game itself, so that it can be accessed from any Web-enabled device".
That pretty much covers up the "virtual marketplace" part, and as for the "social networking", " As players rank up, they will also be able to open their own mercenary franchises. These franchises provide a base for recruiting other players into a clan, offer in-game advantages for members and allow the owners to open their own storefronts that compete against the game MSRPs and can generate 'cash' from new players of the game", Chang added.
Black Powder Red Earth's multiplayer battles take place in the year 2043 where up to 16 high-tech mercenaries gear and carry out contracts for warring corporations on Mars.
