Battle Royale games might be a dime a dozen at this point, but that doesn't mean there aren't more developers hoping to strike it rich with the next great game in the increasingly-crowded genre. The next one likely to make the rounds of at least a few players' systems is VALHALL, a battle royale game focused around hand-to-hand melee combat with Vikings. Think Mount and Blade, but in a single open world map, with much, much better graphics.
You'll be thrown on to beaches with little but the furs on your back and the spear in your hand. You may make some Nordic comrades along the way, but your job will be to survive
This game is being created by Blackrose games and is what they call their "dream Viking game." It's beautifully made, with lush environments, detailed buildings, deep combat mechanics, and expansive maps to explore.
Fighting is mouse-controlled, letting you swing from different angles and stab from different distances. There are dynamic parries, and fast dodging to make for swift, bloody combat where only the truly skilled will be able to survive.
You'll be able to play in first and third person modes, with realistic animations for you and other players in whatever mode you pick. However, third person peeking around corners will not be possible. A minimalistic HUD will keep the focus on the action, though you'll still be able to see your stamina and health.
