Solid Snake's story was wrapped up in Metal Gear Solid 4, but we already know that this isn't the last title in the Metal Gear series.
The Japanese Patent And Trademark database revealed that Konami has registered the title: Metal Gear Solid: Existence. Konami also registered the word Existence with the US Patent And Trademark Office.
The same thing happened with the word "Substance" before it was attached to Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3's title to indicate an improved version of the game. Another possibility is Metal Gear Solid: Existence being a prequel to the original Metal Gear Solid.
