Almost every game Ubisoft had planned for a big E3 reveal has been leaked at this point, so it's no surprise that one more has made it into the press. The next Watch Dogs, called Watch Dogs Legion, has now had a few details appear on an Amazon listing, detailing the type of game it is. Much like the first two it's an open-world, GTA-like hacking mayhem simulator but now there's a new twist, you can play as anyone you like.
"Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London," the game's description reads. "It's a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London's fortunes. London is one of the most iconic cities in the world and has had a massive influence on all of Western Culture for centuries… London makes total sense for WD, as the city has one of the highest surveillance levels in the world making this the perfect playground.
"Play as anyone. Every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems," the game's product description reads.
Kotaku has reportedly heard hint of this before, so it seems likely to be a true description of a major component in the game. Presumably this will not only open up some unique gameplay elements, but be mechanically used to open up new areas of the game that may only be accessible to those characters.
Reportedly, this is the reason that the game hasn't released before now. It's said to be quite an ambitious attempt at overhauling the rather rote open-world experience and could mean that Watch Dogs Legion innovates more than you might think.
