A filing to the U.S. Patent Office may reveal what Microsoft has planned for its next Xbox.
The patent describes a "Multi-component gaming system" which joins any number of consoles and handhelds together to form one large gamming unit. "Gaming components" will be able to transmit audio and video to each other and to use each other's processing power to boost the overall systems capabilities.
The patent also states that the system must contain at least 1 console device and 1 handheld device. Both Wii and PS3 offer similar setups where Wii can be connected to a DS and PS3 can be connected to a PSP, but the proposed system doesn't limit itself to the one console and one handheld configuration.
