In a very brief press release, Nintendo announced that it will release a new handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, to succeed the Nintendo DS series.
According to Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS will offer true 3D graphics without requiring the user to wear any kind of special glasses. The new handheld will be released before March 2011 and will be backward compatible with Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games.
No more (official) info is available yet about the new device, but Nintendo promised to reveal more details in this year's E3 expo. The E3 show begins on March 15, 2010.
