Following on from the recent release of Mario Kart's first ever official DLC pack, adding a few new racers, tracks and karts to the eighth iteration of the game, Nintendo has announced some new balance changes that have switched things up if you use one of the lighter racers, like Yoshi and Toad.
"For this update, we made just a minor tweak to the way two players deflect when they collide with each other," said the game's director Kosuke Yabuki (via Gamespot).
"Up until now, when two players collided, the more lightweight racers would get knocked too far away. That, combined with other overall elements we considered, made us conclude that the lighter racers were at a bit of a disadvantage. If you like Toad or Shy Guy and feel like you can’t win at all, go ahead and give them another try after applying the update. Also note that this tweak doesn’t have any effect on Time Trials when playing solo."
He also touched on some other elements of the game, including saying that his favourite new track in the latest DLC pack is the Hyrule Circuit, mostly because he had worked on the Legend of Zelda games in the past and had a real affinity for the kingdom from that time.
He wouldn't however be drawn on whether we can expect other Nintendo characters to appear in future racing games.
Have any of you guys noticed much of a difference since the patch was applied?
