We still have no clue what the Nintendo NX is, but we now know that it will launch in March 2017.
We first heard of the Nintendo NX in March 2015 when Nintendo's ex-president Satoru Iwata talked about it to quell fears that the company was abandoning console hardware development. Nintendo was able to keep the NX a mystery for all this time, with the only thing we know for sure is that it as "a dedicated video game platform with a brand new concept" and that it is not meant to be a replacement for Wii U or 3DS. We also know that it is – most probably – powered by AMD tech.
The March 2017 release date was revealed officially in Nintendo's annual results. Most analysts expected Nintendo to showcase the NX at the E3 2016 in June so that the console would be launched in the Holiday season. Of course, this is unlikely now that the console will be launched 9 months after the expo. Nintendo however confirmed that its E3 booth will showcase a new Legend of Zelda title that will be released simultaneously on Wii U and NX in 2017.
