Although Nintendo is looking to populate its upcoming Switch console with a number of top-tier games, as well as its own first party titles and own brand of weird games and modes, it's also looking to cater once again to a bustling indie crowd, which is good timing, as the indie gaming scene is stronger than ever.
With that in mind, Nintendo's latest trailer has shown off 17 indie games that are coming to the Switch and they cover everything from Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor, Yooka Laylee, to SteamWorld Dig 2, The Escapists 2,Runner 3, Gonner, Flipping Dead, TumbleSeed, Pocket Rumble and Stardrew Valley with multiplayer.
What's even better, is many of these are new or upcoming games, so it's not like the Switch is only being populated with older titles. Indeed it's going to have some of the latest third party releases which will help it keep pace with the competition on the Xbox One and PS4.
The full list of supported games listed in the trailer is as follows:
- SteamWorld Dig 2
- Yooka-Laylee
- Overcooked: Special Edition
- The Escapists 2
- Gonner
- Dandara
- Kingdom: Two Crowns
- Runner 3
- Blaster Master Zero
- Flipping Death
- Graceful Explosion Machine
- Mr. Shifty
- TumbleSeed
- Shakedown Hawaii
- Pocket Rumble
- WarGroove
- Stardew Valley (now with multiplayer)
That's a pretty decent line up. No word yet on when we can expect the much-anticipated Binding of Isaac, but it's coming too.
Are there any other indie games you'd particularly like to see on the upcoming Nintendo System?
