The Nintendo Switch is largely a handheld, so it is only natural that hardware enthusiasts would subject it to their usual canon of durability and bend tests.
The JerryRigEverything YouTube channel was one of the first to test the Switch's durability and they reached some interesting findings. Perhaps the most interesting of which is the fact that the Switch's screen is made of plastic rather than glass, which makes it highly susceptible to scratches. JerryRigEverything believes this to be a reasonable cost-cutting tradeoff for a device that is not meant to be carried around all the time like a smartphone. Nonetheless, you should make sure to install a screen protector before putting the Switch in your pocket or backpack.
JerryRigEverything was also impressed to discover that the symbols on the JoyCon buttons are actually built-in into the buttons themselves and wouldn't get wiped off even if you slice the button into two.
Ultimately, the Switch proved to be quite resilient with its weakest link being the metal railing that holds the JoyCons to the attaches of the screen.
