Nintendo has released the third iteration of its Switch firmware just a couple of months after the console's original release. It has a number of interesting features for fans of the new system, though one could be particularly useful for those who find themselves misplacing their Joy-Cons. The Switch now has the ability to help you find them, lest they slip down the side of the sofa, as it can force them to vibrate, giving you an audible and tactile clue about where they might have ended up.
Other new features coming as part of the update include: the ability to add friends from your 3DS and Wii U friend lists; new friends notifications for when they come online; the ability to register a channel to receive news and games updates; tweak the controller button to whatever image you want, and chance the system volume from the quick settings.
That's not all though. There are also six new Splatoon 2 characters that you can use as a user icon. There's also the ability to lower overall volume for headphones and speakers connected to the audio jack, and the chance to change color preferences for the display, with effects like greyscale and inversion for those that want them.
Nintendo has a full changelog on its official support site, where it also walks you through the relatively simple update process. All you need do is reboot your system if it doesn't happen automatically. To confirm which version of the firmware you're running, head into the system settings menu and look at the update section. It will give you a hard version number to compare.
