No Far Cry 4 Blood Dragon spin off

If you were hoping that the next iteration of Far Cry would lead to a Blood Dragon spin off like its predecessor did, I'm afraid you're out of luck as it isn't happening. The reason? Surprisingly, Ubisoft doesn't want to just do the same thing every time.

Coming from a publisher that is all about sequels, that's actually quite refreshing.

It was surprising, and it was a great use of the Far Cry 3 base," said creative director on Far Cry 4, Alex Hutchinson in a chat with IGN. "But hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something that surprises you just as much. Because if we did another one, you’d be on my Twitter saying ‘Are we going to have a Blood Dragon every year? You’re just in a factory churning things out.'"

Perhaps this is for the best. Sometimes it's good to see a game that just comes and goes and is well remembered. Sequels, as exciting as they are, do have the potential to ruin all of the good will that went before it.

However, the fact that Hutchinson suggested that the team will be working on another surprising type of expansion, suggests that while we might not get something quite as crazy as Blood Dragon, we might see an equally strange take on Far Cry 4 and whatever it is, it will be pretty and its open world will be huge.
