Final Fantasy XIII is slated for release next year, more than 4 years after its predecessor's - FF: XII - launch. Square Enix producers Yoshi Kitase and Motomu Toriyama assured the Final Fantasy fans that new titles in the series won't see such a long wait again.
"For FFXIII there are a lot of firsts, and because it's a new console that the teams are working on, it took a little time for the team to get used to everything," Kitase explained. "Now that they have the engine built for it the basics are covered, so the development time for future projects should be shortened."
