The hottest trend among developers and publishers is devising new ways to reduce secondhand games sales.
The latest publisher to join the foray is no other than Nintendo itself.
Secondhand purchasers of Wii's latest peripheral, the Wii Speak, won't be able to access the Wii Speak Channel. Wii Speak is a microphone than can be attached above or below your TV and connected to your Wii to enable in-game chat; but for off-game chat, you have to use the Wii Channel.
Every Wii Speak comes with a 16-characters "Wii Download Ticket Number" that is good for a one time use. A Nintendo representative confirmed that Wii Channel won't be available through any means other than the Download Ticket which "cannot be replaced by Nintendo or your retailer if it is lost or stolen."
