AMD Ryzen fans rejoice, as your list of potential cooling options on the AM4 socket has now dramatically increased. Noctua is now offering support for that particular socket and chip line on all of its mainstream heatsink fan combinations. That means that the NH-D15, NH-U14S, and NH-U12S will all now ship with an AM4 bracket to fit the big heatsinks to.
That's not to say that you couldn't have used any of these Noctua coolers before now, but you would have had to jump through a couple of extra hoops. The SE-AM4 upgrade kit was freely available, but you did have to order it separately to make any of those Noctua chillers compatible with Ryzen CPUs. Now that's no longer the case and prices will remain identical for all.
"We’ve supported AMD’s Ryzen platform with our SE-AM4 models and free-of-charge mounting upgrades from the very beginning", Noctua CEO, Roland Mossig, said, via . "As with Intel’s LGA115x and 20xx platforms, our customers have greatly appreciated our free upgrade policy. We’ve provided many thousands of free mounting kits and quite a few customers have migrated 10-year-old heatsinks they had already used on several socket generations. This means a lot to us and we’ll continue to offer the free kits of course."
Now that AM4 CPUs are far more popular though, Noctua has started to include the kits within its main CPU cooler kits.
