Nostalrius is making a comeback

Nostalrius, the World of Warcraft vanilla server which was shut down earlier this year by a Blizzard cease and desist order, is set to make a comeback. This comes after Blizzard refused to make any form of announcement for legacy servers at Blizzcon, prompting the Nostalrius developers to respond that it would fill that gap in the market.

Although it's not clear what guise Nostalrius will return in, we do know that the devs have handed over their source code and player database to the admins of fellow vanilla server, Elysium. It may be that Elysium adds in Nostalrius content and players, to create a new mega-server, or it may be that a new one will be created, perhaps named Nostalrius Two.

This news comes along with details from the Nostalrius team that while it has appeared silent over recent months, that's because it's been driving hard to get Blizzard to develop its own legacy servers. There was some suggestion that an announcement was coming at Blizzcon, but that event came and went with nothing to show for it.

Nostalrius' team also said it had been sending proposals, codebases, cost analysis and more to Blizzard, to try and convince it to partner up on creating a legacy server system .
But it didn't receive any response during the four months it pestered the publisher, despite continued fan cries for legacy and vanilla options.

What do you think of Nostalrius making its comeback? Will you play on it?
