Battlefield 2, Chaos Theory, Phantom a holographic display and the first round PC in the world are just some of the highlights of nVidia's presence at CES 2005.
nVidia has been keeping busy and will show-off the fruits of its labors during this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which takes place January 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The main focus of nVidia's display at the show will be the diverse selection of devices which are using nVidia to power their graphics.
Putting aside the sad XBox Next story, the U.S. graphics giant has a strong line-up of digital devices powered by its technologies. EA and Ubisoft may be fanning the flames of speculation even further since both publishers have chosen to use nVidia's booth to preview some of their big name titles coming in 2005, including Battlefield 2 and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. What no one will complain about however, is the presence of Frag Dolls, an all-female gaming clan, who will be demonstrating the games.
The consumer devices nVidia will showcase include wireless handsets, mobile entertainment devices, videogame consoles, set-top home entertainment systems and high-performance multimedia PCs.
In addition, the company will also display for the first time a new approach to in-car 3D info-tainment. NVIDIA has worked with a number of partners (UCLA and Pelican Mapping) to build an integrated, innovative device which will allow the user to map, track, communicate and entertain - all from the driver seat of the car.
Interactive, real time 3D graphics and imaging are playing an increasingly important role in the next generation of consumer electronics devices. An entirely new level of visual quality is enabled by nVidia graphics and digital media processors, said David Roman, vice president of corporate marketing at nVidia. Our CES showcase demonstrates how these technologies are being used to power a variety of innovative new devices across a wide range of applications.
- nVidia GoForce wireless media processors (WMPs), the NVIDIA family of WMPs, broadly adopted by leading cell phone manufacturers.
- MXM technology, a consistent graphics interface enabling interchangeable graphics cards in notebook PCs;
- nVidia TurboCache technology, a patent-pending approach to system memory management;
- nVidia PureVideo technology, an advanced combination of hardware and software that significantly improves the capabilities of the PC as a video playback device;
- nVidia SLI technology, a revolutionary approach to scalability and increased performance.
