A large number of users are reporting that their NVIDIA Shield tablets are developing cracks around the edge for no apparent reason.
The cracks tend to appear shortly after using the device, but some users on the official Shield forums claim to have noticed cracks on their tablets upon opening the box. The cracks are mainly concentrated around the four corners, but they can appear anywhere around the frame.
NVIDIA still hasn't identified the reason for the problem; however it recommends that customers continue using their tablets normally until the reason is discovered so that they'd receive an unaffected replacement.
"I certainly understand the frustration, and as soon as we have more details to share on the issue, we will," said NVIDIA moderator NVGareth . "In the meantime, as Peter posted above, we recommend continuing to use the tablet as normal and waiting for an announcement. That way when you do an RMA you can be completely sure that the replacement will not be one of the affected units. We fully stand behind the product, and the warranty period is a minimum of 1 year, so you're not in any danger of running out of time on it."
