More than 4GB of graphics memory is a good idea for most modern games, but if you're still playing at 1080P and don't mind dropping off a few visual settings, 3GB is an OK compromise. With that in mind, Nvidia's still-unannounced, but definitely-coming, 1660 Ti will come in 3GB versions as well. A leaked ECC database picked up by Videocardz shows that among Asus' expansive line up of 1660 Ti graphics cards, there will be both 3GB and 6GB variants.
The ECC filing suggests that ASUS has planned 11 different versions of the GTX 1660 Ti, ranging from dual fan versions, factory overclocked "OC" editions, Turbo and ROG Strix iterations and all of them, bar the Strix RGB range, look set to be available in both 3GB and 6GB guises.
The 3GB versions will likely perform in much the same was as the GTX 1060 3GB versions — substantially weaker than their 6GB counterparts. It may be that these 3GB versions function in a similar manner to the 1660, non-Ti counterpart, but we'll need to wait for benchmarks to appear to judge those correctly.
Videocardz claims that all of these new GPUs, from ASUS and its contemporaries, will be available on February 22. It's expected that any remaining stock of the GTX 1060 will be heavily discounted to help clear the way for what will essentially be its replacement in the mid-range.
