Despite a constant stream of rumors and speculation over the past few months, the details of what Nvidia's next-generation graphics cards will actually be like have been rather thin on the ground. That doesn't seem likely to change for a few more weeks at least, so all we have to feed you today is more rumors.
Still, they are worrisome rumors indeed, as WCCFTech claims that Nvidia isn't looking to replace its existing range of 10-series graphics cards, but build on top of them. There will be three new GPUs released in September, its sources claim. While they didn't reveal the name or technology the new-generation is built on, they did say that there would be a 120w card, a 150w card, and a 180w card.
Normally we'd suggest that that would mean replacements for the GTX 1060, 1070, and 1080 respectively, but according to sources said to be familiar with the matter, that won't be the case. Instead, the new cards are said to be priced at $500, $600, and $700. That would put them all between the price of the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1080Ti, with the 1070 and 1060 drastically cheaper.
We're also told that the 1080 and 1080Ti will receive price cuts of between $50 and $100 a piece and will continue to be sold alongside the new cards.
Other details that come from this rumor dump include 11GB of VRAM for the top card and 8GB of VRAM for the 150w and 120w cards. All will release in September, we're told, with the top card launching on the first week and the other two following in the weeks that follow.
Are you guys saving up for these new cards? Or at those prices will you wait for a sale?
