Star Wars is a popular franchise, I'm not breaking any boundaries by saying that. However its popularity as a universe doesn't always transfer over to the gaming world. There have been some solid titles, but many of the biggest releases end up being duds. Something tells me that the official Star Wars virtual reality experience, Trials on Tatooine though, will be a success.
The new trailer for the official experience showcases the use of the HTC Vive headset and its motion controllers to simulate light sabre battles, in fully immersive virtual reality.
Players will also get to interact with various characters from the universe, dodge incoming laser fire, deflect shots and no doubt brawl with a Sith lord somewhere along the line.
We will of course need to see more before stating that what's on show here will be a long lasting, fun, well made experience, but for now it's shaping up quite nicely and the popularity of the platform will no doubt carry over to release sales when it's finally available.
What do you think of Star Wars VR? Will you be picking it up to play with your new headset in a few weeks?
