Overwatch is Blizzard's latest entry into the multiplayer arena of team based combat, and it's undeniably pretty. So much so in-fact, that the developers have a number of back-story short animations for each of the characters. Some of those were show off in a quick demo-reel this weekend at Blizzcon 2015.
The video shows different layers of visual development, running from concept, through basic animation tests and model creations, to the final, detailed, and lifelike characters who have needs and desires, back-stories and histories, all of which players will get a real look at when the game is released at some point in Q1/Q2 2016.
The short video shown here went down so well with some fans, that they're calling for an animated movie based on Overwatch, even before we really know much about it.
Blizzard has given us some plot points however, stating that the Overwatch was a task force used to take down some AI driven robotic forces, only to be disbanded years later when its leader was assassinated by an unnamed assailant. It's during that post-disbanded years that we pick up the story.
And invariably kick seven shades of **** out of each other.
