Palworld's second January update has landed, celebrating the Lunar New Year, which takes place on January 29.
News in brief
- The Version v0.4.14 Update brings five Spring Festival skins for Pals.
- Game and balance adjustments include a summoning change and a bug fix for Pals' stamina.
- This is the second January update, with the most recent update landing just 12 days ago.
Palworld's Spring Festival skins designed to help players and their Pals celebrate the Lunar New Year include Lucky Cattiva, Lion-Dancer Chillet, Lion-Dancer Chillet Ignis, Fortune-Bringer Lyleen Noct, and Fortune-Bringer Lyleen. Though the update is for all, players will need to already own each of these Pals to equip the new skins — however, new players don't need to miss out as at least one of the Pals is available early on in the game.
Pocket Pair has made a few game adjustments in this update, including a change in the way Pals are summoned. After being summoned, Pals now attack the nearest enemy. This update follows a December change which saw the old summoning method of throwing Pal Spheres to summon a Pal swapped out for summoning Pals in proximity to characters. Players have speculated that this controversial change came about following a lawsuit where Nintendo claimed copyright infringement, saying the Pal Sphere summoning method was too similar to the way Pokémon are summoned.
The update has also added changes such as a durability increase for some armor and weapons made with blueprints, while the large electric egg incubator has seen a reduction in power cost and will now store more power in its battery. Larger Pals will now find it easier to traverse bases in the game, as they can pass through smaller gaps and are less likely to collide with ceilings and other objects. In addition, the Earth element has been added to Mammorest and Mammorest Cyst, with the Water element added to Killamari, alongside the work suitability "watering."
Pocket Pair's update has also addressed several bugs, including fixing one that caused stamina discrepancies between Alpha Pals and normal Pals. A bug that allowed PS5 players to join Xbox games has also been fixed as the feature was accidentally released and is currently under development.
