The Kickstarter campaign to bring the Pathfinder pen and paper RPG to PCs around the world has been a rousing success. Just and is now well on its way to some stretch goals, which will add new features like camping and a new character class called Magus.
Pathfinder is a relative newcomer to the RPG scene. Spawned in the late '00s following a fracturing in the Dungeons and Dragons gaming community, Pathfinder expands upon traditional D&D 3.5 rulesets with a push towards greater class abilities and a more classic RPG feel. The developers of the PC game will be looking to do much the same and have pledged to create a world with up to 80 hours of main story and side-quest content, with more than 100 monster types, 10 different classes and seven races to choose from.
In Pathfinder: Kingmaker, you'll explore the world of Golarion, a deep, historically affected world which you and up to six characters can explore together. You'll find land to conquer, enemies to slay and quests to complete, with environmental and elemental attacks to play with as you brawl and talk your way through the world.
You won't just be a peon adventurer though. In this story you'll take land and need to control it. Pathfinder: Kingmaker is designed to challenge you as a player, combatant and ruler as you look to manage your newly founded kingdom.
The game is being made by a team of experienced individuals, with the narrative headed up by Chris Avellone, who penned the stories for games like Planescape: Torment, Fallout 2 and Prey.
