Sony is set to launch a new color version of the PS4, this time giving it a coat of gold paint. The look extends to the controller too, so you can hearken back to the days of Goldeneye special edition of the N64.
This new version of the PS4 will be available for the slim model only and not the PS4 Pro, so if you like the look of it you won't be able to get it in the most up to date version of the system. Still, that should keep the price down.
Although no official announcement has been made for the system as of yet, Eurogamer is reporting that several of them have shown up at U.S. retailer Target, suggesting that some sort of announcement is impending. The images showing the console appear to be real, with the Target employee who snapped them claiming that the console will go on sale on June 9, so you don't have long to wait if you particularly want a gaudy looking PS4.
This would mean that the gold system is released before the official Sony E3 press conference which is slated for June 12. As reported, it's likely that Sony will reserve that for much bigger announcements.
What they'll be for now is anyone's guess, though it seems likely it will be dominated by games with perhaps a focus on the PSVR headset and platform.
What would you like to see from Sony at this year's E3?
