According to research conducted and published by Nielsen, the most played console in 2008 was the 8 years old Playstation 2.
Sony's previous generation console maintained its position at the top of the list with a 31.7% of all gamers' playing time. On the other side, Sony's current generation Playstation 3 was the least played console in the current generation with a 7.3 percentage. Xbox 360 was the most played current generation console with 17.2% and Wii followed with 13.4%.
Nielsen's report didn't count PC playing time in the aforementioned statistics, but it reported that World Of Warcraft was, unsurprisingly, the most played PC game of the year with an average of 671 minutes played per week. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came in second place with an average of 403 minutes played per week.
