This generation of consoles has been a little different than the last few. With Nintendo jumping the gun with the Switch, Microsoft and Sony releasing mid-generation upgrades in the form of the PS4 Pro, the Xbox One S and soon Project Scorpio, you wouldn't be foolish to expect it to be some time still before we hear any more news of next-generation systems.
However, one analyst is now claiming that the PlayStation 5 could launch as soon as next year.
This isn't any sort of official announcement by Sony, but comes from . Why should we believe him? Because he's the one who correctly predicted the eventual release of the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.
While this idea might seem strange, considering the Pro has only just been released, it's always possible that one of the big console makers has something new in the works. It would be surprising, but exciting if true. It could mean that we would get out first hint of the new Sony system at E3 this year, which at this point is a mere month and a half away.
What do you think of Thong's prediction? Do you think the idea of a PS5 at this point is a little too early to consider? If not, what kind of features would you expect it to have?
Native, wireless VR would be pretty exciting.
